| Visit to Forde Abbey gardens and house, Somerset |
This former monastery, now a privately owned Grade 1 listed house, is surrounded by 30 acres of award-winning gardens. Around the grounds are sculptures, lakes and fountain. The house contains fine furniture and tapestries, and the Undercroft Tearoom is available for refreshments. Our neighboring society in Wimborne is offering a coach trip to Trafalgar Square, central London. The coach departs from Wimborne at 8.30 am and leaves London at 16.30 returning to Wimborne at approx 8pm. | Afternoon visit with tea to Pugin Hall near Dorchester |
Pugin Hall was designed by Augustus Pugin in 1847 and is surrounded by 5 acres of gardens which can be viewed as part of the National Garden Scheme. Our visit includes a talk on the house and garden from the current owner and afternoon tea/coffee and cake. This visit is now fully booked. |

| Stanley Spencer Cookham art gallery and John Lewis Heritage centre |
Cookham is the birthplace of Sir Stanley Spencer, and the home of an art gallery dedicated to his works. There will be a talk by the curator, and a special exhibition Mind and Mortality, as well as the permanent works on display. We also also visit the John Lewis Heritage Centre in Cookham and view their archives and collections. |
